Study mission in Argentina and Uruguay

Our first study mission has been made to sites in South America in March and April 2012. So noted for the disappearance and concealment of corpses that the special category of “desaparecidos” was created to describe its victims, the case of Argentina seems indeed a particularly apt basis for an analysis of this process of destruction. The contacts taken with leading forensic anthropologists of Uruguay have on the other hand given us the opportunity to work on the aftermath of the “carot operation”. These visits have therefore allowed our network of contacts with researchers and professionals (magistrates, coroners, members of NGO’s) dealing with mass violence in the Americas to be enlarged, and have provided access to new sources of documentation.
